Creating the device
Aryballe’s technology relies on the use of an array of photonic sensors, functionalized with biochemical molecules able to bind differentially to odorant compounds. Aryballe will design the sensors for the ROSE project, and integrate the sensors and the stimulator into the digital olfaction module.
The sensor design is a close collaboration with CEA-LETI (Grenoble, France) in which Aryballe provides expertise in chemistry to match the requirements of the application.
For integration, Aryballe will work on the mechanical design of the device to produce robust digital olfaction modules in collaboration with our partners at the Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy). The integration work will also incorporate the stimulation electrodes coming from the team at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne so that the complete digital olfaction module can be used for applied experiments easily.
Technical support for experiments will be provided for the teams performing human testing of the prototype device (CNRS Centre for Research in Neuroscience (Lyon, France), Technical University Dresden (Dresden, Germany) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Thessaloniki, Greece) ) throughout the duration of the project.
